Women in Sakalak village are strong. They used to mine sand on the coastline. However, their activities had led to coastline erosion. YAGAT, funded by the Australian Government, try to stop the women from mining sand through sustainable organic farming and fishing program. Of course farming is not new for this group, YAGAT intervened in motivating the group to grow more vegetables so that they can sale it in the city. By doing this, their household could earn extra income. Besides facilitating organic farming, the members of the group were also provided with financial literacy through saving and loan activities.
